Trent Keegan

Once again I am sitting in front of PC. I look, I do not see, I want to work, I can not, I have a need to write….

The day was normal. One of those in last weeks, with readings and writings to do. Boring, nothing special…

I talked to friend from Ireland and remember another great friend from there…Trent. Trent Keegan.
Oh well even Facebook gave me his name to be added as a friend just couple days ago.

I open my inbox from last conversation I had with him, back in spring 2007. He wrote:

Hi Marija,

wow that looks like an amazing trip. Good on you your some adventurer. If its right to say this I am very proud of you, if its possible for a friend and not a family member to say this. Very impressed of your exciting adventures.

Keep them up if you can.
All the best Trent

So I checked his web site. And was shocked. He is gone. He was killed a year ago. Trent Keegan was killed in Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday 28th May, 2008. He was photo journalist, one of its kind. This tall guy, who just knew how to go around with camera, who just always find the words to cheer you up….

We met back in ‘02 or it was ‘03 in Paklenica, Croatia. He was a traveler at that time, who just wanted to do some climbs. He bought the harness and shoes and join us. Simple as that he progress every day, day by day. He enjoyed it all and every moment. He was happy. His big smile all over his face…One happy climber he was…

He wanted to continue in professional photography. And he did it. He was great at it. His photos are facts about the life in full colours of it. He just had a feeling to express and catch it all.

Nope there will never be that simple, humble look from his eyes. His words were always simple, but straight. Always supportive. He did not ask why I need to travel. He understood. He was traveler himself as well.

Trents’ journey on earth is done, but the path he took stays here to remind me on simple fact: There is just one life and it is ending day by day. Thank you to be and to use your words:

If its right to say this I am very proud of you, if its possible for a friend and not a family member to say this.

All I can say is I will try my best to keep it up!
